Animal Humane to host foster parent event, Pure Barre class in Albuquerque

Whether you are donating money or items, volunteering at the shelter, fostering, or adopting, there are many ways to help New Mexico’s homeless pets. To raise awareness, gather resources, and educate the community, Animal Humane New Mexico is hosting its “Fostering Love” foster shower on Saturday, July 13. The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the shelter’s Main Campus location.

At the foster shower, attendees can donate items and funds while learning about foster care, playing fun games, and spending time with foster pets. Animal Humane’s foster program not only caters to pets who are too young to be in the shelter but also helps pets recovering from surgery and those who need a break from the shelter. Animal Humane provides all of the essentials for foster parents; all that foster parents need to have is time, love, and space for animals in need.

Animal Humane is always accepting more foster parents; to find out more about how to become a foster parent, click here or attend the Fostering Love shower on Saturday. If you would like to donate items to the shower, click here to see what items the shelter is looking for.

Also on Saturday, Animal Humane is hosting a Pure Barre class at its Main Campus location starting at 10 a.m. Proceeds from the class go back to Animal Humane’s work with pets in need.

Animal Humane’s adoptable pet of the week is Gerwig. She is a 3-month-old cat who was abandoned on the shelter’s campus and went through the foster care program. Gerwig is very well-socialized and would do great in any home. Animal Humane New Mexico recommends adopting kittens in pairs or with another cat already in the home so they can have lots of socialization. To find out more about adopting Gerwig, click here.

Animal Humane has its main location on Virginia Street, its westside center on Coors Boulevard, and its adoption center at the PetSmart on Eubank Boulevard. The shelter is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To view adoptable dogs at Animal Humane, click here. To view adoptable cats at Animal Humane, click here.
