[1] Families of fallen first responders from BCSO helicopter crash sue Bernalillo County – Some families of the first responders killed in the Metro 2 helicopter crash two years ago are now suing Bernalillo County for wrongful death. Back in 2022, Larry Koren, Michael Levison, Fred Beers, and Matthew King were on board the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Metro 2 helicopter helping fight wildfires in Las Vegas, New Mexico when it crashed. All four first responders died in the crash.

[2] Neighbors push for better security on Albuquerque bike path – Residents in northeast Albuquerque are asking for a permanent solution to their safety concerns surrounding a popular walking and bike path. The Paseo de Las Montanos path along the Embudo Arroyo attracts runners, walkers, and bicyclists. However, neighbors say it has also attracted crime, trash, drugs, and the homeless. Albuquerque police chief Harold Medina said open space officers have been asked to patrol some of the trails.

[3] Stormier, cooler, & breezier weather expected across New Mexico – Flood Watches are in effect as unsettled weather is already expanding this morning, not only in the form of some rain but also, dropping temperatures with the East Canyon Winds picking up. Morning showers are moving south of I-40 with brief pockets of moderate rainfall moving to the east-southeast from near Tucumcari to Socorro with more light showers moving to the north-northwest from Quemado to Gallup. Wetter weather ahead will be because of the clockwise-rotating high-pressure system pivoting the more-abundant tropical moisture across New Mexico with lower high temperatures as a result.

[4] I-25/Montgomery improvement project in Albuquerque breaks ground – A nearly $300 million project aimed to improve traffic flow on I-25 is underway. The New Mexico Department of Transportation broke ground on a long-awaited improvement to I-25 between Montgomery and Comanche.

[5] ABQ BioPark names baby gorilla ‘Gila’ – A new baby gorilla at the ABQ BioPark now officially has a name. Zookeepers have named the gorilla “Gila” in honor of the Gila Wilderness in southern New Mexico.
