Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation offers adaptive programs for kids

The Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation is celebrating 60 years of serving families in New Mexico. They provide adaptive programs, resources, and assistance that allow pediatric patients with permanent disabilities to discover their independence and creativity despite their physical limitations. Helen Pino, program manager, talked about some of the programs Carrie Tingley offers.

They offer four programs: Camp Adventure Summer Camp, Virtual Camp, Wheelchair Basketball, and Tread Setters Adaptive Clying Kids.

They also have another program called the “Ambassador Program.” This is for kids who have aged out of the other camps and can take on a leadership role.

The foundation is also holding an upcoming charity event.

The Day of Tread event is a Day of the Dead-Halloween-themed bicycling event for cyclists of all ages. The event is on Oct. 26 and 27. All proceeds with benefit the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation’s Youth Adaptive Sports programs, summer camps, virtual camps and more.
