Traffic pattern to change on Bridge Blvd. in Albuquerque starting on Friday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A new traffic pattern will happen along Bridge Blvd. starting on Friday. Drivers will be able to make turns on to Isleta Blvd. traveling both ways. The project team said they will close off turns into La Vega Dr. All businesses are still open on La Vega Dr. and can be accessed through Hardy Ave.

Bernalillo County is also warning drivers that La Vega Dr. will be closed starting on Monday at Bridge to allow underground utilities to be installed. That closure is expected to last four weeks. The new pattern is part of phase two of the Bridge Boulevard Reconstruction Project.

The full list of changes includes:

Bridge Blvd.:

  • Bridge Boulevard westbound will have a through traffic lane and a dedicated southbound turn lane onto Isleta Boulevard Southwest.
  • Bridge Boulevard eastbound will have a through traffic lane and a dedicated southbound turn lane onto Isleta Boulevard Southwest.

Isleta Blvd.:

  • Isleta Boulevard Southwest northbound will now have a dedicated left turn lane and a dedicated right turn lane onto Bridge Boulevard Southwest.

La Vega Dr.:

  • Beginning Monday, July 15, La Vega Drive Southwest will be closed for approximately four weeks at Bridge Boulevard Southwest to allow underground utilities to be installed across the intersection. La Vega Drive Southwest traffic will be routed south to Hardy Avenue Southwest then to Isleta Boulevard Southwest.
  • Currently, rehab work is being performed by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Authority at Hardy Avenue Southwest and La Vega Drive Southwest. That work is expected to be completed by Monday, July 15.
