CORRALES, N.M. (KRQE) – Each year Corrales holds its annual Harvest Festival and pet mayor election. This year’s festival will be on September 28 and 29. There will be a petting zoo, educational activities, pony rides for the kids, bounce houses, climbing rock wall, wagon rides, cake walk, beer garden, fine arts and craft vendors, entertainment, the Hootenanny dance, and the election for the 2024 Pet Mayor.
Right now, the Village of Corrales has opened up applications for its annual pet mayor election. Candidates interested in running for Pet Mayor can fill out an application, located on the Harvest Festival’s website. A photo of the candidate needs to be submitted as well as campaign flyers. Then the candidates can begin campaigning and raising money. People can give the pet owner money directly, or people can vote on the festival’s website, at the Sunday Growers Markets, or at local businesses around Corrales. One dollar equals one vote; $20 equals 20 votes, etc. People can also vote as often as possible.
Voting will end on the last Saturday in September at 5 p.m. The pet that raises the most money wins the election.
